An almost infinitesimal period of time

One century ago; ie, a decent lifetime..

Our world view has changed dramatically in a relatively short period of time. To cast back one hundred years the existence of the atom in modern scientific circles was not widely accepted.

How strange to imagine folks still wandering around on this spinning mass of rock in space didn’t have any kind of insight to their own structural makeup.

My understanding is limited, and no doubt will seem primitive to those future folk who sit here when my mortal body decompiles.

I believe through analysis, that my heritage is a combination of Klingon, Vulcan but primarily human, which would account for the inconsistent thought processes, a need to get shit organized, and a complete lack of empathy for any other viewpoint..

So to do some serious thinking here..

Planks constant is where I will begin. For it serves well as a starting, learning point.

The Planck constant (denoted h) is a physical constant that is used to describe the sizes of quanta. It plays a central role in the theory of quantum mechanics, and is named after Max Planck, one of the founders of quantum theory. A closely-related quantity is the reduced Planck constant (also known as Dirac’s constant and denoted ħ, pronounced “h-bar”). The Planck constant is also used in measuring energy emitted as photons, such as in the equation E=hν, where E is energy, h is Planck’s constant, and ν (Greek letter nu) is frequency. The Planck constant and the reduced Planck constant are used to describe quantization, a phenomenon occurring in subatomic particles such as electrons and photons in which certain physical properties occur in fixed amounts rather than assuming a continuous range of possible values.

Everything is connected.

It is an obvious statement, and one which without any fortifying facts, can help us little.

The Golden Ratio

More to follow ow wo wooow

The above reference is just something that might be worth thinking about.

There are indeed, only usually realized just before consciousness relinquishes itself to sleep ideas that could begin a revolution in thought.
These range from the mundane to the extraordinary in nature.
For example I was wondering about my daughter Molly, and her essence, her core being, and the growth and evolution of her as an individual.

And also an experiment to see how a U-tube video would embed into this site here

Blab blah bl;ah

Born into this world

It takes perspective

It takes perspective to realize that the understanding you have is based on ‘facts’ that have no relevance to your current situation.

A built up set of beliefs that wouldn’t have naturally presented themselves to your imagination, had they not been indoctrinated into your psyche.

Choices, paths and random misadventures.

We arrive at these thought provoking crossroads many times during our lives. Moments to reflect and ponder where might Fate have taken us if on that particular morning we had decided to skip the shower and hop on one foot all the way to work.

Often, to me at least it all does seem rather Matrix-y when I look around at the buildings, or crowds of strange people, I being included as strange, at least from another voyeurs perspective.

Feeling isolated in the proletariat sense, but a little less so considering that I believe mostly those in the know account for a very small minority. It does not however make the shite easier to swallow that being the situation, but to be thankful that at least those in your direct environment aren’t privy to exclusive information.

The video above explains in an abstract way why it finds itself where it is, and that is because from the back of my mind I wanted to make link with quantum mechanics, and the atom, just been watching BBC4 in action. Did crash in the middle for a while when de Broglie pilot wave theory was being presented, which is quite ironic considering this was a part of the subject that I was unfamiliar with. Strange also is why it would be difficult after watching and absorbing the information presented in this film for BBC4 why ‘one’ couldn’t, given the correct circumstances see through a solid wall, or in fact any other opaque structure.

I do intend to get serious, for I believe that my role here on this delightful sphere, will only expand and fulfill my own dreams if i at last accept my eccentricities.

Soon I will write, with research behind me some interesting notes, thoughts on the Copenhagen interpretation.

Quit the weed I have!

Saturday 14thJuly ’07

The rollies are no longer.

It has been for me a long time coming, I had my last smoke about 2am saturday night/sunday morning, It is now tuesday evening, and all is well.

More to follow, just establishing the link for the picture above.
I have altered my permalink structure in conjunction with a trackback spam blocker plugin, and consequently I can’t remember the configuration of the structure.

Day one

A sunday, a good day to start and strive for a change in direction. Also there was a plan for the day, which involved being busy and getting organized quite early.

Off to Clithero to visit nana and have lunch, and wander around garden centers. A talkin’ heads song comes to mind for all the wrong reasons. It was a good day bought a stone statue, gargoyle kind of thing for the garden, chats about life death and money…… Glad to be alive.

No comparison there with reality, or indeed my situation, for I am without doubt the most happy in fluctual space as one could be, considering the complexities of the plaster on the wall over the top of this monitor.

Not to mention the bloody whole thing, aka. THE Universe

No seriously it was a good day, I ate like a horse.

You know the ones you usually see when queuing for your bucket in KFC.

It was good grazing, you can’t beat that gravy, they say you put on weight when you quit the ciggies, I for one, no doubt in the minority here hope this to be true, for now at 38 I am just over 11 stone the same as the day I was born.

So, put on a few pounds hit the gym, buy a porshe Hahhah ah..

On the other hand Jod my partner who has also quit will find herself in the weight gaining situation I have just described without letting a morsel pass her lips, the unfair irony of organic metabolism.

Arrived home in the rain, (just snipped the rain reference for geological/meteorological reference.)

Kids to bed, a sudden and unexpected feeling of nausea, no doubt due to the over dosing effect of the nicotine patches.

nico.JPG

Felt pretty rough from about half nine till midnight when I went to bed. Day one done without a Smoke.. Good enough

Day two & three: (monday & tuesday)

Working from early till schools out time, then home. Feeling better today, no sickness, just trying not to think about the cigs. The patches are working well, no cravings, just habit compulsion to go for a smoke, before I remember that I have stopped. Last night was a little difficult, we bought some alcohol after the kids had gone to bed, an obvious trigger situation. We both managed, enjoyed the drink smoke free.

Day four: (wednesday)

I am off work today, at home with Molly. Day 4, never before got through this day when trying to quit, so today is of special significance.

Testing a plugin

This plug in, I will give details at the end allows the author, that is me to place code into the body of an article.

This will be used to demonstrate how certain styles or coding are achieved, without the code being rendered by the browser.

<h1>Typical heading</h1>

If I had typed the above ‘Typical heading’ enclosed in the h1 tags without the aid of the plug in the browser would have rendered the ‘typical heading’ in a large font and not displayed the h1 tags.I have noticed whilst playing with this the last few minutes that the code needs to be added in normal editing mode. If in html mode the program adds p tags and generally messes things up. Also if saved (published, and re-visited to edit the program kind of reverts and you loose your code edited sections. I am gonna finish this off with a link to the plugin page. I think issues found might be attributed to my setup rather than the plug in which seems to work.

Have you missed me

Missed who, can we miss what we have not found

A month since I last wrote, caused partly by lack of time, but mostly due to hardware issues. The good news is that we are up and running again, and at almost peak performance. Just installed a new hard drive with the assistance of Tom Chod

The old drive had become unstable, and I didn’t want to loose any files before a backup could be made. Apart from the frustration of searching for device drivers and reinstalling software programs I quite enjoyed the experience. Need to get a dvd writable drive and back up to disk I think whilst on the subject. There was few scary moments when the thought of loosing all my digital images at any moment was grim. Beyond that, tons of work, mostly experimental, learning, tips and tricks that I hope to one day when time allows get up here. I’d like to remind you before I go the Macdonalds blog is well worth a read. The global tour 2007-2008.
