Ruined castles with historic interest

October 19th, 2007

I was thinking about writing this post when i came across this image.

Lowther Castle

This image has fallen into the public domain, and can be used by anyone.

Can I claim copyright for a work that has expired?

No, once a work is in the public domain it is available to all. You cannot stop others using the work and you will have no claim to copyright on the work.

The castle pictured above is obviously not a ruin, But I came across it whilst looking for a place to stay, and maybe encounter ghostly manifestations from an earlier period. I saw the pic was no longer copyrighted and thought “TIS MINE THAT”, and went off in pursuit off securing the copyright. No such luck as the above quote explains.. Never mind, Pure and simple ghost hunting it is..

If you know of a good castle, ‘ruin’ in the north uk area, possible camp to stay the night spot, to drink beer be spooked, small controlled fire etc..
