Cold blooded Lizard beasts

Lizzie and Lucy

So to tell a tale of reptilian nature, from the perspective of a lizard keeper, looker afterer,
Lizzie our first beardy came to us about a year ago at eight weeks old, and for a long time we thought of lizzie as a male, (that was what we were told, and our observations confirmed this.)

Wrong we had a female

Masquerading as a boy, a quiet Lizard only discovered as female when a visit to the vet became necessary after lizard displaying some uncharacteristic moods and behaviour.
Zorro as previously was known was with eggs..
Ahhh,
Nought came of the eggs for they were not fertilised, and soon after this little adventure we considered introducing another female as a companion.

They met in the pet shop

All seemed well, pretty much ignoring each other. and the owner of lizard for sale assured us that this particular beardy was the most placid of the compatible bunch.

So a clean vivarium and a simultaneous introduction into new home we relaxed happy that we had brought companionship to Lizzie (our first).

Trouble begins

Lucy the newbe is like hay whats going on with you Kiddo, I’m gonna sit on you and bite you and, whos viv is this anywayz, and Lizzie is like waving in submission and looking really sad, if you can imagine that look from a lizard.
Lizzie ‘the first’ endured this for a day and a half, being sat on waving, and when hope was almost lost, she pulled out the stops and turned the tide, whilst running over Lucy to grab bouncy locust and enjoying she munched and settled down to relax on Lucys back.
Equilibrium is restored.. Go Lizzie, inexperienced, but instinct prevailed.
Say tuned for the next chapter..
